Quick post as full of cough and cold :(
Realised I hadn't bragged on here about the tea trolley I decorated, so here I am bragging! I am so pleased with it that I think it deserves it LOL

Therapy/craft room is not going so well. Remember I mentioned Jeff wasn't happy that I wanted the fireplace out AFTER he had painted the wall? So, as we remove the fireplace it starts removing the  freshly cream painted from the wall......ooops. So we had to painfully remove the paint from the whole wall, then fill in all the extra holes it had caused .....like I say, oops!

Just a quick bit of crafting. First time I used the bag template on the Cricut, it was the biggest setting, and I think some of the smaller cuts would have been too small. Then some old double sided paper, inking and stamping. Quick but effective - and about as masculine as it could be.

Off now to thrash Jeff at Words with Friends :)

Long week

Long week. Ready? Breath in .... and ....... started the week doing the headteacher interviews, after the weeks of preparation. Two pretty long and intensive days. The interviewees are set a lot of different tasks, you've got to really want the job. The first day is all task related, and the second interviews and presentations etc. As a panel member I was at school from 8.30 to 5.30 on the Monday and 9.30 to 5 on the Tuesday, and back at 7.15 for an EGM. It's full on, but it is for a headteacher, so absolutely should be rigourous. Several people, knowing how many hours this part alone of being a
governor have taken have questioned why I do it. Let's not  forget there's no financial incentive. And I suppose if I look back over the past couple of years it has been particularly heavy, a lot of stress for what? Well, for me, it's about PIF - passing it forward. What is giving up a bit of time compared to helping the next generation? For me not a lot, it's all about the kids, always has been, always will be. I no doubt expect there to come a time when I wake up one morning and think "You know, I've done my bit, let someone else have a turn", but even then we all know I'd end up doing something else, so might as well stick with what I know for now.

Isn't this jar just fab? Mirielle gave it to me; she found it whilst clearing out a cupboard, and thought I would like it. So okay, that sounds a bit random LOL But, she had been to my girly night the other week and thought it would fit in perfectly with all the others I have for the sweetie bar. And isn't she right?? I love it :)

Bit of teaching and assessing.

Did you see the fog on Monday? Well no, probably not if you're reading this anywhere other than Bracknell! The weather has been pretty varied - for want of a better word, feel free to make a suggestion, but I have a rotten cold, haven't slept for 2 nights, and it's the best you're getting ;) - recently. And you have to smile at all the scare-mongering "Oh wow, it really is the end of the world" Er, no, actually, it's typical English weather, get used to it! How many other countries in the world can boast 4 seasons in one day LOL!

Ummm. Met Joshua's not-girlfriend ( I know, I can't keep up with teens either and I'm surrounded by them!). I mean, Josh just does not bring girls home - let alone to a football match. First thought: she appears absolutely lovely. Second thought: After all these years, why did he have to pick now to get serious about someone?!

Went to Don Beni's with Dawn on Wednesday - I was a lady what lunched LOL Had a lovely, lovely time catching up and putting the world to rights.

While I remember hugs to Dawn, Liz and Martha xxxxxxxxx

Jeff, Joshua and Marley got to finally visit Joe - can you believe that's been a month already. Marley promptly burst into tears :( I imagine I will be exactly the same. Apparently he seems okay. So while they were there I went to Hobbycraft - well, it is almost next door, and they do say retail therapy is good for the soul :) Not so good for the bank balance though LOL

Ella's had a busy week. Thursday morning trip to hospital to check her legs again.
Doc "So, how has she been?"
Jeff "Well to be honest, we don't think the insoles are doing any good, if anything they're making her feet worse."
Pause .........
Doc "Um, that would be because they're in the wrong shoes"
How daft did we feel? Er, quite a lot actually LOL So now in the right shoes so hopefully will help her to walk less like a duck.
Thursday afternoon we had her annual review. Didn't take that long. Not much has changed. Nothing needs amending, so unless the LA decide to alter it, that's settled for another year.
And Friday Vicky took her to bowling and Pizza Hut.

Do you like the blanket? Like I mentioned in last post, after I bought the wheelchair I knew I wanted to get her a little lap blanket, but the thought had been 'parked' whilst I have been dealing with Joe - Josh - Gov - well, you get the picture. I was totally inspired by Debbie's blanket for her little girl. Went online, Ella choose the colour, and in a matter of evenings knitted up the blanket and with the remaining ball, made a matching scarf. Won't she look adorable in the chair with those? And I forgot how therapeutic just knitting a blanket can be, No stress. No concentrating on patterns. Just knit. The bag is a free Cath Kidston linen bag I got when I treated myself to the tea set a few weeks ago. So now it is the proud holder of the blanket and scarf and will look very cool hanging on the wheelchair.

Round Up

The study and den conversion? Well it's coming on, reckon we're about half way there. I don't think I was the most popular person when I said to Jeff that I didn't want the fireplace ...... after he had finished painting the walls and skirting board LMAO! The unit you can see? Well that was an ebay bargain, £3.86, but no sneak peaks of the front until it's finished. It needs a fair bit of work to make it look like it belongs in the room, but I reckon it will look pretty fab when it's done. I would have liked to be further ahead, but with Joseph and then Joshua and then the new head teacher recruitment and the admissions for the governors, well the last month has disappeared in a blur. But I can finally feel myself catching up :)

What do you think of the door knob? And no roood comment like the husband. Ordered 4 for the aforementioned unit. Thought with the unit being so cheap it wouldn't hurt to have a few luxuries spent on it. Still have the other half a metre of the Cath Kidston oil cloth I used on the tea trolley, so hoping I will be able to use that too.

On a forum I'm on everyone's gone crochet and knitting crazy. So I thought I'd join in :) I was already thinking about a lap blanket for Ella's wheelchair, so seemed the ideal first thing, no detailed pattern and sewing up after! Must be about 10 years since I've knitted - and double that since I've crocheted. I've spent about 8 hours on it so far, and over half done.

The last group of pictures? Does exactly what it says on the pictures. I have pictures 1, 2 and 3 and I'm hoping to make 4. We'll see LOL And then also going to try them as soaps too.

Got together with Sandra, one of my bridesmaids on Friday at the Lookout. Hadn't seen each other since last summer so good to catch up, but I'm thinking next time more walking and less clotted cream teas ;) She was trying to convince me that childminding would be a good option, only I think she had the opposite effect LOL

Someone at school today said he couldn't believe I was 48 ........ yes he did think I was younger, so that was nice!

Ben's still off sick, had a rotten cold :(

Joshua has had an ECG just as a check up following that scare he gave us last November. And a test for Glandular Fever.

Have had a couple of letters from Joe, he seems to be adapting, Jeff's going to see him on Friday, so will feel happier after that.

Sending healing vibes for all my friends who need them atm for one reason or another xx

Vicki suggested Ella might like to go ice-skating at the special sessions. Everyone was keen except yours truly. It wasn't helped by Ella when I asked her to come back with 10 fingers and she assured me not to worry and that she would come back with 2!!!! She apparently had a lovely time, and despite being held up by Vicki, an ice-skating helper, and something called a 'penguin' she still managed to spend as much time on her butt as on her legs LOL

February Roundup

February round up

Transform study into treatment/studio room
Furniture for garage
Rearrange den
Rearrange office
Paperwork for SMB
Update SMB website
carried forward from Jan: book - job - scan paperwork

Have started on the study (photo from earlier this month) and hope to make a big hole in it this weekend. Not a literal hole in the study obviously ;) Furniture has been emptied. Decorated a tea trolley. Paperwork has been sorted into work - business - personal - and I have shredded so much the motor's nearly burnt out on the poor machine LOL

Oh dear! The list has not taken a battering this month. I openly admit to losing 2 weeks thanks to Joseph. I rallied slightly and then one of the other kids threw (not literally LOL) something at me and down I went again. But, once this morning's over then I shall be be able to get on with life - starting with the house, it has been rather neglected. But it hasn't been a complete wash out .....

Still busy, busy, busy with the Governor stuff, as well as new Head, it's also admissions time of year.

Ella's been to a couple of parties, including our God-daughters third. Time is going too quickly.

Alf (SW) been to see Ella and that's all okay :)

Josh did really well in his SAT. Considering it's not something he had any knowledge of until December, and refused to open the book to study till 1st Jan, I think he did well. Ben has longer to get to grips with it. He struggles with the maths questions, but he's not alone. I sometimes look at the question - we get one in the email every day - and I think "They wanna know what???" But then, as we all know, if you get a U for maths in an O Level, you're never really going to get it LOL

Joe - well, we knew he was going to get a custodial, but it still knocked the stuffing out of me.

Been to a couple of exhibitions. Didn't get to the NEC Spring Fair - like I didn't with the Autumn one, so spent hours - and hours - saving websites and info off of their website.

Ella went to see a doctor at CAMHS, who thankfully had her head screwed on the right way and agreed that she is fine, so why rock the boat.

But the absolutely best part of the month was the girls who came round a couple of weeks ago and had a drink - or three - with me :) Have some photos to share, but will save that for another post.

New Wheelchair for Ella

We all love a bargain, and this is another fab find :) Ebay starting price £20.00...... so I bid ....... Ebay finishing price £20.00!! No other bids at all, what are the odds! It's almost brand new, really lightweight and folds flat. And the best part of all? We get our days out back, we hardly ever go out nowadays as Ella gets exhausted so quickly, but now hopefully we can start enjoying some days out again. I am thinking it might need a little girly makeover, but got a few other projects first, so that's most definately not the top of my list.
