Chit Chat

Oh I haven't got anything special to call this post, it's just a quick infill between waiting for Mum to give her a manicure, looking after Madam, getting ready for Joshua's football game, doing some crafting for the next craft fair, and sorting out the study - yep that's the next one on the list! On a positive it doesn't need decorating, just seriously sorting. It's become a bit of a dumping ground as we've sorted the other rooms!

Jeff feels I'm a bit zealous with the house atm, so much so that he advises visitors not to stand still for too long for fear of me altering them LOL The other day there was an advert on the telly and Jeff shouted to Joshua "Don't let your Mum see that advert!" It was the Cuprinol advert on decorating the garden furniture - too late Jeff, way ahead of you LOL

So ultra busy, but looky at the picture :) Not sure how that happened, but ultra nice all the same :)

Crafting!

The very norty Sue pointed out Dilly Beans Stamps was having a sale on their digi stamps. I had bought half a dozen last year and have used them a fair bit, so thought, why not! Went online, ordered 10, chose 10 free and went to bed. In the morning there they are in my inbox :) And an error had been rectified on my order before I even woke up! Now that's service :)

I am seeing two of my closest friends tomorrow and we've supported each other a lot over the years so decided to make them a little something. I trawled the web for ages for find the right quote - and even then tweaked it a little. Digi stamp; coloured in with Promarkers; Stickles on the wings; and some beads from Poundland that are meant for finger nails on the heart! So a very simple card for my first entry into a Dilly Stamps Challenge

That was part one! I then decided to make something to eat - and as Debbie had a challenge on her Gifts From Your Kitchen page, decided to make some truffles. Haven't made any for years! They are covered in chopped mixed nuts, chocolate strands and white sprinkles. I did think about making a box, but cba! Then found these lovely patio tea-light holders in Poundland. Have put some mini marshmallows at the base and then a selection of the truffles on top. Finally tied the cards to the holders with fibres and voila!

Ella's School Play!

One of the most enjoyable part of children is watching their school plays. And one of the advantages of having a large brood is just how many I've been able to see. Some of my most memorable include
  • Ben and his then best friends Mikey and James as shepherds
  • Joy and me dividing the children into 2 singing groups and getting the carols just right
  • One of our nephews wearing a lamb costume and falling asleep on the stage throughout the nativity
  • Joe in year 6 playing the part of Bottom in A Midsummer Nights Dream - it was universally agreed he was amazing!
The sad part is always once they go to secondary school they stop doing them, unless they take drama, which despite my best pushing none of ours ever did. However, SN secondary schools have a totally different outlook and productions continue. And every single show leaves me so overwhelmed. I really can't put into words exactly how I feel. To see children with so many complex needs taking part in a show. Not one child is left out. The care and dedication the staff obviously give to the children is humbling. To see children that can't communicate verbally and appear on the outside to be not aware of their surroundings dancing and laughing brings a smile and a warm feeling. Gosh, I'm going all gushy, better stop that smartish!

This year was a trip through London Underground. Ella's class stopped at Baker Street - which lead to a short sketch about Sherlock Holmes. Doesn't she look adorable? And she had lines! Okay, so it was "Fresh bread! Buy my bread!" But she said them loud and clear and looked so proud of herself - almost as proud as her Mum and Dad watching :)
