And we're off! Joined this blog hop about 2 days before it started last year - talk about no pressure! This year I have every intention of having all my posts written and scheduled to post before the 1st April. Writing this in advance and wondering if I made it?? Hopefully that will take the stress out of having to write and visit. I also plan to visit everyone on the list - hmmm, that could involve not eating, sleeping or taking wee breaks if last years list was anything to go by!
So, you've seen the topic and here's A .......
Anniversary - Jeff suggested we renew our wedding vows on our anniversary. I was happy to wait for our 25th but he was so disappointed that I caved in and agreed we would go for the 20th. (This means of course we can do something special for our 25th too!) Of course we didn't take into account the foot injury, equating to no work and therefore zero funds to pay for the event. But as we'd already paid a substantial deposit we decided to run with it anyway (well, obviously no actual running ;) ) So for this month's A-Z I am going to show you how we saved a lot of money, but still plan an awesome event! And how you can too if you have a special occasion to plan.
Alcohol - People don't nowadays expect a float behind the bar, but if you do want to do that then give each guest a free drink ticket - that way everyone gets one drink and you don't get grumbles about the float having gone before some people have even arrived at the reception! If it's an informal do, like us, then keep an eye out for 3 for 2 bargains, a cheap booze cruise, and even ask everyone to bring a bottle.
Attendants - a word to encompass anyone involved in the 'bridal party' - flower girls - ushers - bridesmaids - best man - etc. etc. etc. And we've tried to ensure as many families are involved as possible!
Happy Anniversary! And new china, too? Lovely!

What's a float? Is that like a bartender? Congrats on 20 years! My ex and I talked about renewing our vows but as usual, he dropped the ball and lost interest. Small wonder he's my ex. lol

ReplyDeleteCharlotte - hope you enjoy your first A-Z - it's exhausting but addictive!
JoJo - a float is a set amount of money you put behind the bar for people to spend :)
Julie - sort of! They're all written and scheduled - just need to add photos - pretty amazed with myself for being organised for once LOL!

DeleteHi, Yours is the blog below mine so I'm belatedly following the instructions. I am interested to see that your A to Z experience is similar to mine. I started a new blog for challenges and writing prompts last year. The first challenge I found was A to Z and it was about to start. http://suestrifles.wordpress.com
ReplyDeleteWow! Suzanne, what a fabulous page. I love your ideas. When I eventually get married I will get back to you to plan it for me! Love, love the cutlery and the dresses are just awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosemary :) xx
DeleteWe are headed toward our 23rd Anniversary. Love that you're doing vow renewals, that's so cool! And cute that your hubby is the one who can't wait to do it again.
ReplyDeleteSo lucky that your whole theme could be filed under A, on the first day of the challenge. How lucky is that? :)

Hi Kristen, thanks for visiting :) I know, complete fluke, didn't even think about it initially - I was like "Okay, my theme is going to be vow renewal celebrations", it wasn't until I started writing that it clicked LOL! xx
