Time to B{l}og Off?

Struggling to keep on top of everything and one area that's really suffering is my blog. When I have time I love writing mine and reading others. When I don't have time it's like I have an annoying pixie in the corner of my mind - goading me, reminding me I'm not updating, and not being what I consider a good blogger. What's most annoying is that flaming pixie is right!

Why am I busy? I'm not sure. I think it's partly because I was not working for nearly 2 years and now that everything is coming together I'm struggling to get into a good routine. I mean when I had the 2 day nurseries I also had 4 kids primary school age, was on the PTA, was a governor, and even managed a couple of pantomimes! Even missed the ISWG post, first time since I signed up :( So maybe, seeing as I love making lists, I need to create some sort of timetable for the week - whatever works!

I've just started teaching again, only 1 or 2 mornings a week, but add prep and marking and stuff into the equation and 6 hours teaching becomes about 15 hours.

We've started the fostering process, a ton of paperwork and courses and meetings and more stuff!

I've started to properly look at how to turn my shoe hobby into a full-time proper business. It's taken me 2 days just to create good photographs and upload them onto a facebook page I'm creating. I want the page to be completed before it goes live, and that's not a fast process. Half a day spent just finding the right facebook header that also has matching Etsy digi templates. Oh, networking too - got a friend thankfully who's helping me - it's all new to me! And then as soon as it goes live got to do all the official tax stuff!

To take my business seriously I am decorating shoes like mad as I have a wedding fair booked for next month.

I signed up for a 6 week online course on Exploring Play.

Three weekends ago I went on a crafting weekend. Caught up on some scrapbooking and re-learned how to crochet grannie squares! And Nets took some photographs of me that actually make me look half decent!

Two weekends ago I had my soul sister visit. We did London, (previous picture of the poppies at the Tower of  London), first ever visit to Liberties - love that shop and got a really pretty loyalty card! First visit to a Slug and Lettuce pub chain. Road on the open-top sight-seeing buses. Went to the Florence Nightingale museum. Found a bead shop. Gave up on Convent Garden cos my foot had had enough! Malaysian food fair was happening in the middle of Trafalgar Square. Managed some car boot sales Saturday and Sunday and got some amazing finds. In fact had to lend Debbie a suitcase to get it all home! Also gave her a load of material I bought for our do to make bunting - it was the only thing I ran out of time to make.

Last weekend I went on my annual Center Parcs trip with my girlfriends. Didn't go according to plan, I ended up at an out-of-hours doctor with a suspected tooth abcess. If you've ever had toothache you'll know why the weekend wasn't the best. Then, back at home, go to the dentist, and if it's what he thinks it is, I'm looking at an £800 bill!! Deep joy.......

I've also got the childminding course starting next month, cos Little Woodpeckers is still right up there with things I want to do!

Housework you say? What's that?

Dealing with paperwork re Ella - anyone with a SN kid knows that never ends! And more paperwork for the solicitor.

So I don't actually feel like I'm drowing under everything, but definitely need a buoyancy aid to keep afloat LOL!

And I'm trying to get on top of all of this before I have a guided, via ultrasound, steroid injection into my wrist next Thursday cos I've no idea how much that's gonna hurt!

  1. Holy crow Suzanne, you ARE a busy camper aren't you?! Well just blog when you can. I've always said if something ceases to be fun, take a break. I did like 43 posts in all of 2009....I just wasn't feeling it. Blogging is a lot of work and ultimately, real life is more important.

    1. That's so true, keeping a blog active and interesting is a lot of work! I'm going to try and keep it up, but it is one of the easier things to suspend when busy!xx

  2. And I thought I was busy! I know how you feel though with so much to do and so little time. If the blog has to fall off the radar while you sort other things out then I think everyone understands. I wish you all the very best with all the things you have going on at the moment. See you around when you can make it.

    1. Thanks Suzanne :) I think the problem is I feel like the regular blogs I read are part of a little community - and I don't like to let friends down! But I think I am going to change my posts for a bit - more photo's and less writing! xx

  3. Sound like you are just flat out busy. Tell the pixie to shut up. You'll be back when you are ready.

  4. Having a routine that includes blogging can be a difficult thing, but blogging should only be a part of life; it shouldn't be life.

    1. Absolutely Andrew - and I'm always the first to say that to others, but I'm not the best at taking my own advice! x

  6. Man! I know how that goes. We just moved, then had 3 family birthdays, had 20+ family members in town for 3 weeks, got pregnant, and have a book release. I think as women, sometimes we don't realize how much we're juggling until we sit down and analyze it. You definitely have to take a moment every now and then to breathe, right?
