Insecure Writer's Support Group

It's the first Wednesday of the month so must be Insecure Writer's Support Group - click on the link and join the Blog Hop!

This is the blurb .....To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds! Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time. Let’s rock the neurotic writing world! Our Twitter hashtag is #IWSG

Me? Well I didn't get as much written as I had hoped during NaNo, but I got so much else done! And to be honest, I think a big reason for that is that I stepped back from blogging, facebook etc for the month. I missed keeping up with my regular bloggers, but have to say, was lovely to see so many things ticked off my to-do list!

So my advice this month would be step away from the internet, or just reduce the time each day :) For December I plan to catch up on what everyone's up to, but with the aid of a timer to stop me sinking back into bad habits!

  1. Yes the internet is the ultimate time suck isn't it? I do get so much more accomplished when I step away, even for a few hours. And this being the holiday season there's always more to do.

  2. Good point. I try to limit my Internet time to an hour in the morning before I start writing. Then again in the afternoon, and a quick check before bedtime, otherwise I'd get nothing else done.

  3. My problem is more about TV watching than internet using, but I definitely agree. I really just need to sit down and make myself write.

  4. Good for you for getting stuff done, even if it wasn't typing words :). I hope your timer works out!

  5. Sometimes we need that break. Mid-month, I'll be shutting down until next year.

  6. Great advice :)
We can get lost in the internet world for sure. Not necessarily bad, but I find that I'm way more productive when I take breaks too. Not surprising, of course, but it does feel good to check things off the list.
