BRUISING - An injury appearing as an area of discoloured skin on the body, caused by a blow or impact rupturing underlying blood vessels. Bruising on the plantar aspect of the foot is highly suggestive of a Lisfranc injury.

After reading the link provided to your injury, I'd say your right....it's not just a broken foot. As a former athlete and coach of a sport that renders sprained ankles, torn tendons, ligaments and other foot and toe issues, I feel fortunate to not have felt your pain.
